Frequently Asked Questions
Who is a candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
The ideal candidate is an individual who is at their “realistic weight.” While not necessarily “ideal” weight, the perfect candidate has tried, through exercise and diet, to achieve a weight that they can “live with”. Abdominoplasty surgery is not a substitute for weight loss, and, as a matter of fact, the typical Abdominoplasty patient will not lose a significant amount of weight following the surgery.
It’s also important that Tummy Tuck candidates be in good physical health and have realistic expectations. Tummy Tuck is most effective on individuals who, though in relatively good health, are bothered by abdominal contour deformities or loose abdominal skin that remains unaffected by diet and exercise. Women who have undergone multiple pregnancies often find the procedure particularly beneficial.
What occurs during a consultation for a Tummy Tuck?
During the consultation you will meet with Elliot B. Duboys, MD who, after carefully examining your abdomen, will discuss your expectations and the possibilities available. All details of the procedure will be explained and any questions that you have answered.
When can I exercise?
You may return to your regimen of exercise 6 weeks following your surgery. Frequently, you may resume a limited exercise program 3-4 weeks following your surgery. Please be sure to ask Elliot B. Duboys, MD for additional details.
